In the 1980s,Linda was voted 'Rock Photographer of the Year'
by NRN and Midwest Beat Magazine.
She was photo editor and or Bureau chief and columnist for The
Prairie Sun, Chicago Soundz Magazine, Chicago Nightlife Magazine, Midwest
Beat, Chicago Beat. and had a celebrity photo column for many
years. In the 1990s she was approached by King World features to go
worldwide as their celebrity columnist.
Matlow was also on the masthead or contributing photographer for Creem Magazine, 16 Magazine, Tiger
Beat, International Musician, Bop, CMJ, Hit Parader, Song Hits, Musician
Magazine, Circus Magazine, Relix Magazine and many others. Pix
International started in 1980 in NYC.
Of the thousands of celebrities and bands she's photographed,her
favorites thru the years: Lady Di, Paul McCartney, Frank Zappa, Muddy
Waters, Willie Dixon, Gregory Hines, Holland Taylor, Dennis Tufano(The
Buckinghams),Diana Ross, Dennis Rodman, Tina Turner, David Sanborn, The
Ramones, Bob Dylan, Beyonce, James Brown, Judy Carne, Alice Cooper, Victoria
Beckham and the list goes on!
In 1980 to the early 2000s Matlow's agency had represented hundreds of
well known photographers around the world including a Pulitzer Prize winner and two European photo
agencies.
She is still friends with them all and continues to represent their
work on a request only basis for upper-end print and television show license renewal requests.
In addition to being interviewed for local and national publications
for her work, Linda was a frequent radio guest in the 1980s on various
radio stations, including 'entertainment update' and a humor segment
called, 'Weather from my balcony' on WLS-AM Radio when she lived on the
39th floor of
Marina Towers with a great huge balcony.
Matlow's photos have been licensed to hundreds of books around the
world and in the early 1990s Pix International published various entertainment magazines on floppy disk and CD.
In the late 2000s, book publishing ventures which included:
2010 'Hardcover' a Limited edition compilation of her music
photos from 1978 to 2010.The edition quickly sold out.
In addition,she has over 1 million general stock photo images available
for rights managed image licensing and has won
several print photo competitions thru the years.
Her work has graced
the State of Illinois Building in Chicago (the only
non staff photographer to have work displayed there!), WMAQ Radio/TV
'Wall of fame' when they were at the Merchandise Mart, Hawthorne Race
Course(Gold Cup Room), The original Pump Room Restaurant, Bob Guiccione Jr's Spin
Magazine USA traveling exhibit for SPIN Magazine, Walt Disney Chicago
Office, WMET Radio and WLUP Radio. Private homes and office of art patrons.
